Lignes directrices générales pour les marchands
Guide pratique pour préparer vos commandes, organiser les arrêts, choisir le bon véhicule, mettre en place des livraisons récurrentes et vous intégrer en douceur avec Porterchain.
Preparing orders
Clear, complete order data helps us plan routes and meet your time windows. For each order include: delivery address, recipient name and contact, and any time window or reference you use internally. If you have special handling (e.g. temperature-sensitive or fragile), note it so we can match the right vehicle and driver.
You can submit orders by CSV upload, file, or API. Many merchants start with CSV and add API integrations later. For step-by-step upload and format guidance, see our onboarding education section.
Organizing stops and parcels
Each order becomes a "stop" on a route. Group stops by run type (recurring vs same-day) and area when you can — it helps us build efficient routes and respect your cut-offs. Attach parcel or load details (count, weight, handling notes) so drivers know what to pick up and deliver.
If you have multiple pickups or complex sequencing, we’ll align with you during onboarding. Stops are planned to minimize detours and meet your time windows across the areas we serve.
Choosing the right vehicle
Vehicle fit depends on parcel size, volume per stop, and access (e.g. downtown vs industrial). We offer sedan, SUV, van, and medium truck options so we can match your typical load and delivery profile. High volume or palletized runs usually need a van or truck; smaller parcels and tight areas often suit sedan or SUV.
We’ll confirm vehicle options and capacity when you come on board. For a quick overview by vehicle type, see our industries and delivery solution pages.
Setting up recurring deliveries
Recurring runs (e.g. weekly routes to the same stops) give you predictable capacity and simpler planning. Share your recurring schedule and stop list during onboarding so we can reserve capacity and align drivers. You can add or adjust stops as your business grows; we’ll keep routes efficient and time windows consistent.
Same-day or ad-hoc deliveries use the same platform — you submit orders by your cut-off and we plan and execute. For more on how we handle both recurring and same-day runs, see Business Knowledge Centre and our service area coverage in Where we deliver.
Onboarding smoothly with Porterchain
Onboarding is designed to get you live quickly. We need your typical volume, delivery areas, time windows, and any special handling. We confirm we serve your areas and match you with the right capacity and vehicle mix. There’s no long form — we focus on what we need to start delivering.
Once we’re aligned, you get access to the tools and can start submitting orders. For a full walkthrough, see How onboarding works and onboarding education. If you use or plan to use APIs or integrations, our integrations and integrations education pages have the details.
